2019 MLS Preview: Jersey Partners

Three years ago we posted a table outlining all of the MLS jersey partners entering the 2016 season. Now as we’re about to enter the 2019 MLS season, it’s interesting to take a look at the partners that have stayed the same and those that have changed. By our count, 15 brands from 2016 remain, while Chicago, Columbus, Houston, and Seattle all have different jersey partners. Also of note, San Jose’s first team is no longer sponsored by Sutter Health; however, the partnership remains for their academy program.

FC Cincinnati officially unveiled their partnership with Mercy Health, changing from Toyota who was their jersey sponsor in USL. The Sounders replaced their longtime partner, Xbox, with Zulily, an e-commerce company headquartered in Seattle. Furthermore, the Chicago Fire announced they have partnered with Motorola on a multi-year jersey sponsorship deal with the Chicago-based telecommunications brand. Lastly, and one of the most aesthetically and emotionally striking partnerships, was announced last year. The Houston Dynamo partnered with MD Anderson Cancer Center marking the league’s first season-long, cause-related jersey partnership. Not only is it a cool partnership, it looks beautiful too!
